nice price deal !!! after a bunch of succesful, module blasting releases by german-based label struktur, it is time for another physical one. for our first compact disc, we aim at giving you a fine selection of predominantly analogue techno in all its varieties by artists from all around the globe. for this special treat, called -black circle-, we compiled 12 tracks by exciting producers for you to discover. the sounds range from more industrial, spherical and hypnotic compositions, like taken out of one of william gibson s dystopian tales, to completely overcharged, circuit-melting monstrosities, that might just leave you speechless. if you are a connoisseur of analogue sounds and well structured pieces, this is for you!

rodhads debut album anxious sees the artist step away from the dancefloor and further develop the narrative qualities of his beautiful soundscapes. it was the natural next step to present the sound he began cultivating with his recent eps kinder der ringwelt and sšhne der erde as a full length lp. the experience the album is trying to convey is being thrown into a world that is ready to crush you.they have you with your back to the wall, and you are ready to give way to despair. will you be able fight back? how is it even possible? rodhad is the spearhead of a new generation of techno producers and djs. with his bass heavy grooves and dubby atmospheric soundscapes he is a sonic guide, knowing exactly where he wants to take the crowd, leading through the inexhaustible sounds of techno music in all its beauty and gloom. he fully immerses himself into the music, yet never loses himself. growing up in berlins rougher outskirts, as a teenager he was able to grasp the final flashings of berlins mythical nightlife of the 1990s at legendary places casino and ostgut. in the late 2000s the dystopian crew began their own series of parties and then the label with two seminal releases by rodhad, 1984 and blindness.

sascha borchardt aka monoloc is a dystopic atmospheres fanatic that has dedicated his life to the dance floor from an early age. the frankfurt-born artistÕs raw yet sleek take on techno and ambient has evolved to characterise his own musical style in his productions. monolocÕs sound is a mixture between techno, dub and ambient, nurturing a tone that is driving, groovy and low-slung, but with greater emotional range. he acquires most of his inspiration from old movies and likes to work mostly with field recordings in his productions. Ôthe untold wayÕ on dystopian is his second album, following his first in 2012, and shows a notably matured development in the artistÕs style.

there are some records that manage to sound both of a time and utterly timeless and bon voyage organisation s jungle? quelle jungle? (a nod to supertramp s crisis? what crisis?) is one of those albums. its silken-smooth production, irresistible grooves, funk-tinged guitars, lush soundscapes and general glowing presence could easily lead one to believe that have dug up a lost disco gem from the 1970s. however, behind the disco-pop gleam lies eerie dystopian sci-fi ruminations of a futuristic bent and tones that can often feel as french as they do asian or african. this sort of cross-continental exploration is an expansion on bvo s previous two eps, the man behind the organisation, adrien durand, says. -i tried to continue the musical expedition between dystopian science-fiction haunted africa - plus haitian vaudou on -soleil dieu- - and futuristic asia. addressing, in a double entendre manner, some of the political issues that i am sensitive to.- in fact the jungle in question in the album s title is a metaphorical one and one that creates a vast series of environments for durand to explore such subjects as world trade, utopian ideals and themes of idols, as well as of time and communication. however, one will need to speak french to decipher such explorations, as well as shake off the natural impulse to move with every glorious beat on its 13 tracks, of which are moved along by maud nadal and agathe bonitzer s golden vocals.

ltd special edition -coloured marbeled vinyl -mind religion- is the 7th release of the label, an ep composed of 5 original tracks of futuristic, aggressive and post-apocalyptic techno. the duo nx1, for this release as individual artists (samot and surit), took over half vinyl each one for a very unique creation which was completed by two powerful remixes from motive power & crystal geometry. with this release hex recordings confirms once again his dark, fatalistic and mercilessly vision of techno, directly whistling the dystopian pandemonium.

for michigander s fifth release, brian kage delivers four solid dance-floor fillers, each infused with a unique blend of melodic detroit soul, intelligent acid and perfectly mixed percussion. each offering teleports the listener into a future where social distancing has finally abated and celebration can commence. lockdown starts the record off with undulating 303 bass notes that groove around in a circular arpeggiated formation until hypnotic 909 percussion breaks through with echoing claps and weaves together a tale of futuristic tension building. hold on pain ends features a stabbing analog synth-line that repeats a half-beat phrasing contrasted with slamming technical percussion, a heavy kick and a lush pad that is perfect for late nights in a warehouse. that woman from michigan contains gentle swinging upbeat percussion and deep soothing chords with samples of governor whitmer asking all michiganders to do their part and join together in solidarity. a subtly modulating acid line builds tension into a perfectly resonating crescendo. f.u covid19 - an ominous swelling pad rips across the dystopian horizon as swinging rimshots build around a deep pulsing kick and a dirty mono synth swirl. echoing vocal samples punctuate this acidic frenzy until the tension falls away giving dancers an opportunity to catch their breath before the next round of infectious rhythmic groove forces the hypnotic spell to intensify.

charles duff and daniel fisher have known each other since well before their respective forays into dance music. they serendipitously crossed paths at some point in the early 2010s with mutual friends in the nyc club kid scene. shortly thereafter they realised they both were keen to ditch the vapid hipster bullshit that had fueled their early careers thus far in order to pursue something pure: techno. mind you, this was at a time when it was not terribly cool to be into underground dance music. if anything, they both were greeted with massive skepticism from their peers but that didn t ultimately deter them. both went from relative obscurity to regular slots at berghain. and for two american kids musing in a pathetic bedroom studio, this was nothing short of a dream come true. a prophecy had been fulfilled. the two tried their hands at numerous attempts at collaboration over a 5 year period but nothing seemed to stick. most of it sucked horrendously according to them. but not on this occasion. the stars finally came into alignment and they were able to execute a concise group of tracks that finally made sense together. which brings us to threads. threads, an homage to the uber-dystopian bbc docudrama from the 80s, sums up their dynamic approach to tracks. it s an alienating, sinister take on techno that somehow manages to not fully lose faith in dire times. much like life today.

paul labrecque (sunburned hand of the man) and ghazi barakat (pharoah chromium) present two epic cosmic, dystopian tracks where guitars, synths and traditional instruments blend into an anarchic sound system.
